HCS SB 837 -- INSURANCE BOARD MEMBERSHIP

SPONSOR:  Loudon (Yates)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Insurance Policy by a vote of 12 to 0.

This substitute modifies the membership requirements for the
board of directors of the Missouri Health Insurance Pool and the
Medical Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association.  The
committee member requirements for the Missouri Basic Property
Insurance Inspection and Placement Program are also modified.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill removes obsolete
provisions which reference an organization that is no longer in
existence and adds an insurer to the board that is the second
largest contributor to the pool.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Yates; Department of
Insurance; and Ron Huer.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
